Berkshires Sports Extra on WSBS - September 12

Mike Walsh discusses Week 1 of the Berkshire County Football season on Monday morning. The Berkshire Courier's Sports Editor delves into Pittsfield High's season-opening win over Easthampton at home, as well as big wins for Wahconah and Mt. Greylock. Nate Stump calls in to chat Taconic Football, as the highly-touted Braves opened 2016 with a road win at Sandwich. Walsh also gives scores and stats for Lee, Monument Mountain, Hoosac Valley and Drury Football games.

Berkshires Sports Extra returns to WSBS with Mike Walsh and Josh Sullivan talking local sports. This week the guys are joined by Nate Stump to discuss Post 68's continuing season in the New England Regional American Legion tournament. The trio also debate the merits of Little League and Cal Ripken youth baseball and detail a big win for the Berkshire Force softball team at the Babe Ruth World Series in Florida.

Berkshires Sports Extra on WSBS - June 13, 2016

The guys are joined by Nate Stump to review Wahconah Baseball's D3 Western Mass championship win and preview the shot that Lenox and McCann Tech have to win the D4 title when they play each other Monday at 5 p.m. at Wahconah Park.

The guys also touch on Pittsfield Post 68 beginning its summer defense of the 2015 American Legion State title.

Walsh and Sully finally get to some local sports games over the weekend. The guys discuss tight wins for Wahconah and Monument Boys Lacrosse, and an encouraging outing from the Taconic Softball team. Josh gives an update from his trip to see former Monument star John Kinne play baseball for Columbia at Harvard.

Berkshires Sports Extra on WSBS - March 14

The guys from Berkshires Sports Extra get into a busy Saturday at the Curry Hicks Cage on the campus of UMass Amherst, which played host to the 2016 Western Mass Basketball Championships. There were six Berkshire County teams involved in the six games throughout the day.

First, Josh Sullivan, Sports Editor of the Berkshire Record, details a well-fought finals loss by the Mt. Everett Girls. Then Mike Walsh, Sports Editor of The Berkshire Courier joins him to talk about the all-County final in girls Division III between Hoosac Valley and Drury. Walsh continues to discuss a dominant Cheshire day all around as the Hoosac Valley Boys joined the Lady Canes in repeating as champs. 

The guys close this episode by talking both Pittsfield High Girls and Boys teams advancing to the Division II finals, but succumbing to Longmeadow and Tantasqua, respectively.

Berkshires Sports Extra on WSBS - March 7

Mike Walsh and Josh Sullivan, Sports Editors of The Berkshire Courier and Berkshire Record detail the upcoming Western Mass semifinal matchups. Josh goes into detail about Monday's Lee-Mt. Everett D4 Girls Semi, as well as Monday night's Lenox-Hopkins D4 Boys Semi. Mike then talks about the Wahconah Hockey team's elimination from the D3A tournament Saturday, before closing with a bunch of thoughts on Friday night's Pittsfield-Taconic rubber match that saw the Generals win 81-65 and advance to the D2 Boys Semifinal.

While discussing the complete breakdown of all Berkshire County teams in Western Mass tournament brackets for hockey and boys and girls basketball, the guys of Berkshires Sports Extra are joined by Taconic Boys Head Coach Bill Heaphy (16:00) and Pittsfield Boys Head Coach Steve Ray (21:10), who's teams will square off for the third time this season on Friday night in the Division II Western Mass quarterfinals.
